The following is the Belleville Police release for Tuesday, April 14th.
Warrant
On April 13th at 1:25pm, Belleville Police responded to a call for service regarding an unwanted person that had attended a local business. Officers learned that the individual had an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for Fail to Comply with a Probation Order and Mischief Under $5,000.
As a result, officers located and arrested John Crawford, 31-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, on the strength of the outstanding warrant. He was held for a bail hearing.
Shoplift
On April 13th at 6:27pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of theft at a business in the city’s north end. Staff reported observing a female concealing merchandise and leaving the store without paying. Officers reviewed video footage and observed the female placing items in a bag and exiting the business.
As a result of investigation, Mercedes Rushlow-Stratton, 28-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was located, arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.
