Wintry mix cues Special Weather Statement for Friday in Quinte

By Brock Ormond Mar 20, 2026 | 4:54 AM

The first day of spring in Quinte brings upon another dose of pesky winter on Friday.

Environment Canada’s Special Weather Statement calls for between two to five centimetres of snow or ice pellets starting early Friday morning (7 o’clock hour) and going into the early afternoon (2-3pm) before tapering off.

There is also a chance of freezing rain.

In Centre and North Hastings, we are expecting more snow (5 to 10 cm possible) with less chance of freezing rain.

Environment Canada stated there may be an impact on rush hour traffic.

Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow or ice pellets and there is risk of injury due to slips and falls.

Friday’s high temperature is expected to be around three degrees, but it would be best to bundle up in the morning, with the wind chill feeling like -12.
