Tyendinaga Police release statement on social media following feedback on Friday arrest

Tyendinaga Police have issued a statement on social media following a number of posts made in response to a release on Friday about a sexual assault case.

On Friday, they released details about an investigation that began on February 11th, when a child was reportedly assaulted by an employee of a Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Before & After School Program.

TPS say an individual was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

No name was released.

Officials say this case involves children, privacy rights, and criminal charges, so few details will be made available out of concern for the victim.

On Saturday, they issued the following release indicating that their social media had received response(s) that were threatening or encouraging violence.

As a result, comments were shut down on the earlier post on Friday.
