A local sports organization is feeling the power of community as it recognizes its best athletes.

The Quinte Judo club was graced by the generosity of Ontario Pipe Lining of Frankford, who presented a cheque worth $1,500 to support their “Judoka of the Year’ award.

That money will cover the expenses of sending the club’s annual award winner to Camp Olympia to train with former Judo Olympians for a week this coming summer.

Quinte Judo club operates as a non-profit organization, often sponsoring underprivileged students and supporting members to attend either high performance training sessions, or achieve certifications that will benefit the Judo club.

Classes are held at the Quinte Masonic Centre in Frankford, who recognize the Judo club as the community service they are (keeping the rent at an affordable price). Judo sessions are all ages at the same time, allowing family members to practice together (including parents).
