Madoc defenceman Ben Danford is bringing bronze back home to Canada.

The 19-year-old blueliner won third place with the rest of Team Canada in a 6-3 victory over Team Finland at the World Junior Hockey Championship in St. Paul, Minnesota Monday night.

Danford, currently playing with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs, registered one assist in seven games as part of Canada’s 2026 tournament.

He was also a graduate of the AAA Quinte Red Devils program.

The Canadians rebounded to finish with a 6-1 record after falling 6-4 in the semifinals to Team Czechia, who was set to play Sweden in the gold medal game Monday night at the home of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, Grand Casino Arena.
