Belleville Police dealt with a couple of driving related incidents and arrested a person on the strength of a warrant this past weekend.

Around 7:30 Friday evening, Belleville Police conducting proactive patrol in the city’s north end reportedly noticed a vehicle operating without a front licence plate.

Further investigation revealed the plate was not authorized for that vehicle and after conducting a traffic stop, learned the driver was operating the vehicle while suspended.

Additional investigation determined the driver was also a prohibited driver, with several driving prohibitions for numerous offences.

Duy Nguyen, 38, of Oshawa was arrested and charged with seven counts of driving while prohibited and one count each of operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving while under suspension, driving a vehicle without two plates, driving without a permit and using unauthorized plates.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Warrant Arrest

Early Sunday morning after 4 a.m., Belleville Police officers were told of an unwanted person in the downtown area.

Upon arrival on scene, officers on call discovered a male who was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant for breach of probation.

Kevin Symons, a 52-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver

Around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s east end.

The vehicle was reported to be swerving across the roadway. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of investigation, Nicholas Carter, a 38-year-old Trenton man, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and driving with a blood alcohol concentration level over 80mg.

He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in February.
