UPDATE- The Belleville Fire and Emergency Services Fire Prevention Division has released more details in the fire on Henry Street from Wednesday.

The blaze reportedly started in the kitchen area of an apartment within a multi-unit residential building and quick action from Belleville firefighters prevented it from spreading further.

The occupants of the apartment were not home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported. Damaged estimated to be approximately $26,000.

The fire investigators determined that the fire was caused by combustibles left on top of the stove and the range being left on.

Belleville Fire officials remind the community to refrain from storing combustibles on top of the kitchen range and/or within the oven. It is not to be used as an extension of the countertop nor an additional cabinet.

The road at Cedar and Everett Sts. was closed for several hours, reopening last night.
