UPDATE – The investigation has concluded into a house fire in Belleville on Tuesday night which caused minimal damage.
Belleville Fire Officials haven’t confirmed the cause of the blaze, but they say there is no evidence to support that it was arson.
RELEASE – The Belleville Fire and Emergency Services – Fire Prevention Division investigated a structure fire that occurred in a single-family dwelling located on Gilbert Street.
Firefighters responded swiftly to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze containing the damage to a floor joist space and a bedroom. The occupants of the house were not home at the time of the fire.
Nearby neighbours became aware of the fire in the home and quickly called 911.
Thanks to the notification from the neighbours, firefighters were able to rapidly and professionally extinguish the fire, preventing the fire from spreading throughout the home and to neighboring
buildings.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Damages are estimated to be approximately $19,000.

ORIGINAL STORY – Belleville Fire are on scene of a house fire in a single family home in the 100 block of Gilbert St.
The call came in at 6:06pm. No residents were home at the time of the fire.
The fire has been confined and firefighters are checking for hot spots.
Police have Gilbert St closed between College and May Ave.
There are no injuries, but Hastings Quinte EMS are on standby.
Fire investigators are en route and will determine a cause and damage estimate.
