A long-time figure of volunteering in the Hastings Prince Edward region is officially calling it a career.

Volunteer + Information HPE is announcing the retirement of long-time Executive Director Brenda Snider, who will be stepping down after 20 years of dedicated leadership and service to the community.

VIQ states Snider’s impact on Hastings and Prince Edward Counties has been profound.

Under her leadership, VIQ has strengthened partnerships and expanded support for over 280 agencies.

She has championed volunteerism across the region and has built a legacy for VIQ. Her steady presence, vision, and commitment to community building have shaped VIQ into the trusted organization for volunteerism that it is today.

As part of VIQ’s succession planning process, Mykayla Harrison will be stepping into the role of Executive Director, effective January 1st, 2026.

Harrison has been working closely with Snider throughout the transition to ensure continuity, community connection, and preservation of VIQ’s mission and values.

VIQ’s Board Chair, Doug Peterson, recognizes Snider’s contribution to the agency and community over her long tenure.

“Brenda’s leadership, determination, and purposeful grit have transformed VIQ into a powerful and respected force within our community,” he stated.

“Through her inspired vision and strong voice, she built a unique and impactful network of agencies, volunteers, and opportunities – one that is admired by communities across the region. By forging meaningful alliances rooted in shared values, trust, and persistence, Brenda leaves behind a legacy that is truly exceptional.”

Snider’s retirement marks the end of an era for VIQ, but her legacy will continue to guide the organization as Harrison takes on this new role.

VIQ thanks Brenda for her unwavering commitment and wishes her the very best in her well-earned retirement.
