A local driver has been charged with impaired operation following a traffic stop in Cramahe Township.
Around 11:40 p.m. last Thursday, Northumberland OPPÂ officers on patrol observed a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401 that was reportedly unable to maintain its lane and reached speeds of approximately 130 km/h.
The motorist was stopped, and after speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The individual was taken into custody and taken to a local detachment for further tests.
Tyler McCuaig, 34, from Plainfield, has been charged with impaired driving, impaired with a blood alcohol concentration level of 80-plus and speeding.
The accused has a January 2026 court date in Cobourg. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as well.
