By Brock Ormond Dec 29, 2025 | 9:53 AM

The Cobourg Police Service is seeking assistance to identify suspects involved in a theft attempt that occurred during a bomb threat distraction.

Before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a business in the area of DePalma Drive and Burnham Street after staff received a note indicating there was a bomb in the store.

The store was evacuated, and with guidance from the Ontario Provincial Police Explosives Disposal Unit, a thorough search was conducted.

No suspicious items were found.

While officers were managing the bomb threat, police received a report of an attempted theft at a business near King Street and Spring Street involving the same individuals.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify three suspects connected to these incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca.

Tips provided to Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
