More details are out regarding a vehicle in the Trent River and subsequent police operation earlier this week.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Northumberland OPP, Trent Hills Fire Department and Paramedics responded after two individuals exited the Trent River near Ranney Gorge Drive and Seymour Quarry Road in Campbellford.

Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment related to water exposure.

Further investigation indicated that a collision had occurred and that a vehicle was submerged in the river.

OPP stated its Underwater Search and Recovery Unit discovered a submerged pickup truck that took significant time to recover.

The truck was eventually recovered around noon on Wednesday.

Items found in and on the pickup truck were linked to the two individuals who exited the water earlier. At this time, no other persons are believed to be involved.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

If you have any information regarding a criminal offence please contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
