Hawks get late winner to defeat Spirit

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 30, 2025 | 7:30 PM

The Trenton Golden Hawks sweated out a tight game that went right down to the end of regulation time.

A late goal from Matt Indovina with five seconds left lifted the Hawks to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Stouffville Spirit on Thursday.

Jaxon Broda and Taeo Artichuk helped find Indovina for a shot at the backdoor that eluded Spirit goalie Hayden Sabourin to improve Trenton to

Nathan Windle had the only goal of the first period off a rush and Evan Breckles added to Stouffville’s lead on a powerplay 5:40 into the second before the Hawks mounted their comeback.

Daylen Moses put his first goal as a Hawk home just shy of 30 seconds later to quickly cut into the deficit from Joey Brehmer and Candon O’Neill, before Nathan McHattie launched a shot through traffic off a faceoff at 13:02 to knot the score.

McHattie’s second of the season was assisted by Kale Mace and Logan Bennett.

Neither team could solve the deadlock until Trenton’s big break in the dying seconds.

Hayden Jeffery made 24 saves in the victory, which extends Trenton’s point streak to nine straight games.

The Hawks will return home to start November on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. versus the Oakville Blades.
