Royals crowned 13U provincial champs

The 13U Quinte Royals are provincial ‘A’ champions after an undefeated Ontario Baseball Association tournament.

The Royals beat 12 other teams in Northumberland County over the Labour Day Long Weekend to claim the title, beating Simcoe 12-5 in the final game.

The squad also defeated the Northumberland Jacks, Niagara Falls Falcons, Brantford Red Sox, Mansfield Cubs and Ancaster Angels to finish at 6-0.

Royals officials say the team showed great teamwork and sportsmanship and represented the wider Quinte community proud all season.

The team represented the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association.

Meanwhile, the Royals organization was busy running the U12 and U16 OBAs at fields across the Quinte region.

The U12s were eliminated in the third round of their provincial tournament, while the U16s finished in fifth place with an overall record of 3-2.
