Assault charge laid in Belleville

A man from Alberta was charged with assault following an incident in Belleville over the long weekend.

On Sunday morning at 1:20am, Belleville Police responded to a disturbance in the city’s east end.

Upon arrival, officers located one male and two females.

Officers spoke to all parties and they were told that a male had punched a female earlier in the night after a verbal altercation.

As a result of investigation, a 36-year-old Alberta man was arrested and charged with Assault.

He was held for a bail hearing.
