A 29-person delegation from Belleville’s sister city of Lahr Germany is ready for a week-long visit to the Friendly City.

City council and staff will welcome the delegates at a meeting on Monday.

Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis and Lahr Mayor Markus Ibert will exchange gifts during that meeting.

After that, Mayor Ibert, council, staff and community members from Lahr will join Belleville’s group for a week of activities and tours of the area.

The two communities began their relationship in 1972, when the Canadian military maintained a base in Lahr.

Belleville City Council meets Monday at 4 p.m. at City Hall.
