Hawks, Pirates pick up preseason wins

The Trenton Golden Hawks are primed and ready for the 2025-26 OJHL regular season.

The Hawks defeated the Smiths Falls Bears 4-1 in their preseason finale on Thursday to finish out the exhibition schedule with a 4-1 record.

Mason Musclow, Sebastian Gayagoy and returning players Reid Pettipas and Isaiah Shantz all scored for Trenton.

Finn Wilson played the whole game and stopped 24 for the victory.

The Hawks will visit the arch-rival Wellington Dukes in their season opener at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 before welcoming the North York Rangers to town on Tuesday, Sept 9 and 7:30 p.m. for their home opener and Buckland Cup Championship banner raising ceremony.

In Wellington, the Picton Pirates got big nights from Jakob Gardner and Cole Stevenson in an 8-3 triumph over the Trent Hills Thunder.

Gardner notched five points (one goal, four assists) and Stevenson recorded four (two goals, two assists) in the win.

Gerrit Kempers, Keenan Wiles, Nate Woods, Wesley Jackson and Joseph Bonter also scored for Picton.

Hayden McLaughlin, Owen Ellis and Tyler Brady replied for Trent Hills.
