Person dies after being struck by train in Cobourg

Members of the Cobourg Police Service are investigating after a person died after being struck by a train on Friday afternoon.

Emergency responders rushed to the area of the rail crossing at Burnham Street and Westwood Drive in Cobourg where a pedestrian was hit by a train around 2 pm.

Emergency services, including police, fire, and paramedics attended and one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police remained on the scene for hours investigating the circumstances of death with the Chief Coroner’s Office. There is no risk to public safety at this time.

The scene has since been cleared.
