UPDATE: Large fire on farm in Greater Napanee

UPDATE: The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to assess a massive fire in the Greater Napanee area.

Reports say the blaze broke out around 7 Monday night on 2062 South Shore Rd. in the Adolphustown region.

Damage is reportedly being estimated at around $5 million.

The cause remains under investigation.

A full statement can be read below from the Municipality of Greater Napanee.

Members of the Greater Napanee Fire Department responded to a significant barn fire on South Shore Road on June 8, 2026, at 19:03 hours.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a large barn measuring approximately 800 ft by 200 ft that was fully involved. The structure was completely consumed by fire. There were no injuries or loss of life reported as a result of this incident.
At the height of the incident, more than 40 firefighters were operating on scene. Through coordinated fire suppression efforts, a large adjacent barn was successfully protected. Mutual aid support was provided by Deseronto, Stone Mills, Loyalist, and Mohawk fire services, which assisted with staffing and tanker operations.
“The size of this fire and the exposure risk to nearby structures required a significant, coordinated response,” said Fire Chief Shawn Armstrong. “Thanks to the efforts of our crews and our mutual aid partners, we were able to protect adjacent buildings and ensure there were no injuries. Saving the adjacent barn was attributed to the teamwork and tenacity of our firefighters and mutual aid partners.”
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified and may attend, as the estimated damage is expected to exceed $5 million dollars.

ORIGINAL STORY

There was a large fire on a rural farm property in the Greater Napanee area on Monday night.

Reports on social media say a building on the property was fully involved when firefighters responded to a location on South Shore Rd. (in the Hay Bay area) around 7 pm.

Greater Napanee Firefighters were supported by crews from several surrounding departments including Kingston, Deseronto, Tyendinaga Township and the Mohawk Fire Department.

The road was closed in that area for several hours. There is no word yet on injuries.

More information is expected on Tuesday.
