Beyond the Headlines – Rubber on the Ramp

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 24, 2025 | 1:11 PM

Those who serve and protect our nation will be helping raise money for a very worthy cause while letting people see some of their coolest hardware up close this weekend.

RUBBER ON THE RAMP returns to CFB Trenton from September 26th-28th.

The event, which raises funds for the United Way Hastings Prince Edward, gives civilian and military personnel an opportunity to take pictures with their vehicles in front of designated Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) aircraft.

It’s a super fun event that brings the base and the broader community together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is as cool as it is important as a fundraiser.

This year, you and your vehicle can have your picture taken in front of a CC177 Globemaster, a CC130J Hercules, and/or a CH146 Griffon Helicopter!

Thanks to everyone at CFB Trenton for helping to put this event together in the middle of their always busy schedule of flights and maintenance. Outside of an airshow, this is as good as it gets!

It’s just another big reminder than the work they do extends far beyond the massive economic and cultural impact they bring to the community as a whole.

The hard-working women and men at the base work tirelessly to support so many causes in the community, and this gives us just one more chance to not only admire their handiwork, but to say “thank you” in person while we all admire a big source of pride for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
