The Northumberland OPP has laid a charge in connection with an assault at Warkworth Institution from last month.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m., police received a report that a staff member had been assaulted by an inmate at the facility. The staff member was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for the arrest of the accused.
Last Saturday, August 8, OPP officers took the individual into custody.
A 25-year-old male has been charged with assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg later this month.
