A Campbellford man is charged with numerous offences after being involved in several incidents on Saturday, including a reported hit-and-run collision.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being driven dangerously in the area of Front Street South and River Street in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Additional callers reported the same vehicle was involved in a number of other incidents throughout Campbellford, including property damage and verbal altercations.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a vehicle matching the description was involved in a non-injury collision with another vehicle in the parking lot of a community event on County Road 38 before leaving the scene.
Officers later located the vehicle; however, the driver failed to stop for police on multiple occasions before being taken into custody at a commercial property on Canrobert Street at approximately 3:25 p.m.
David O’Kane, 49, of Campbellford, has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
- Failure to stop after accident
- Resist peace officer
- Flight from peace officer – four counts
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
