TaskForce Engineering is a construction and engineering firm that provides construction services to the industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) sector. TaskForce wants their clients to be comfortable with the building process and confident that the final product will be what they expect; therefore, TaskForce uses the design-build model, partnering with their clients from design inception right through to finished product.

TaskForce, operating out of Belleville, employs about 30 to 35 full-time staff; that number increases with seasonal employees – some of them student hires – during peak construction season in the summer. The company is always looking for new qualified employees such as engineers, draftspersons, site supervisors, project managers, labourers, and carpenters.
Hilary Murphy, owner of TaskForce Engineering, takes an interest in employee well-being and work-life balance. TaskForce has enacted benefits programs and RRSP matching programs; they also ensure that employees enjoy vacation time and some flexibility with hours and occasional remote work. Hilary tries to stick with construction projects within the region – about a 100-kilometre radius of their head office in Belleville – “so people are able to come home.”
From Sketch to Reality – the Design-Build Business

Once TaskForce and their client have established the project design, TaskForce undertakes the construction project using its own construction personnel, project managers, site superintendents, steel erectors, and concrete forming crews.
The ICI sector has a strong presence in Bay of Quinte. TaskForce has tackled such building projects as recreation complexes, industrial buildings, and commercial retail units. TaskForce does business with tradespeople in the region – they often contract parts of their project out to local companies.
While TaskForce tries to keep their work local, their partnerships with some of their existing customers sometimes take them to other parts of Ontario – they recently completed the two largest recycling processing facilities in North America.
Hilary, along with her partner Ian, bought TaskForce Engineering over a decade ago from the original owners after working for them for 10 years. Hilary attributes the company’s strength and growth to the strength of the relationship with clients. Much of their work comes through referrals or repeat customers.
