A cornerstone of the local recreation and aquatic landscape is celebrating a huge birthday this weekend in Belleville.
The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club is hosting a wide range of activities on Friday and Saturday as part of their 150th Anniversary Celebration.
The fun begins Friday Night (Sept 11) with a Parade of Boat Lights, open to all Boaters in Belleville, with prizes going to the 3 best decorated boats.

On the morning of Sat Sept 12, BQYC Members are asked to please go to your boat, regardless of where you dock and decorate it with every flag you own, including your 150 flags.
On Sat Sept 12, 1-9 pm there will be lots of fun for everyone – Opening the celebrations will be an Indigenous Friend Sharing Ceremony on the South grounds of the Club.
The grounds festivities move on to family fun with Yard games such as old fashioned Potato Sack Races, Corn Hole, Giant Jinga, Ring Toss and more.
Entertainment includes a Balloon Twisting Artist, Face Painting, Glitter Tattoo Artist ending the afternoon portion with a Magician (between 4-5PM).
Food features include Fry Pies, Reids Dairy Loonie Milkshakes (net proceeds going to Chris Waller Fund), Tacos Tony under a tent and then Duffers Food Truck will be joining in the mid-afternoon.
On the water demonstrations by the Youth Sailing School, Radio Controlled Boats, Belleville Dragon Boat Club, Waupoos Skiff Rowing Club, Quinte Rowing Club and Quinte Sailability will also be there.
From 1-4PM inside the Clubhouse as part of “Open Doors Belleville” they are opening up the clubhouse to visitors and serving Beer and Wine (Cash only Bar). They are also hosting an Art Exhibit in the Hall, featuring indigenous and local artists, and having displays of their history around the perimeter of the Hall.
From 6-6:30 they will be taking some time to acknowledge and thank Past Commodores for their dedication of the years in getting them to 150 Years in Belleville and on the Bay of Quinte.
They will then cap off the day’s festivities starting at 6:30PM with live music on the Porch featuring Ed’s Garage.
Everyone is invited to join in this huge celebration.
