Attempted traffic stop leads to multiple charges in Belleville

An attempted traffic stop led to the arrest of a man from Tyendinaga on multiple charges in Belleville on Tuesday night.

At 11:26 p.m., Belleville Police observed a vehicle travelling in the area of Dundas Street and Burnham Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop for police and continued driving.

The vehicle eventually pulled into a parking lot, where officers spoke with the male driver. During the interaction, a female attended the area and advised officers that the driver was there to pick her up.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including non-communication with the female.

As a result of investigation, a 53-year-old Tyendinaga man was arrested and charged with:

· Failure or refusal to comply with a demand

· Failure to comply with release order X3

· Driving while under suspension (HTA)

· Fail to stop for police (HTA)

· Insecure load (HTA)

· Driver fail to surrender license (HTA)

· Novice driver fail to provide breath sample (HTA)

· Class G1 license holder unaccompanied by qualified driver (HTA)

He was held for a bail hearing. No name was released.
