OPP lay serious charges following bus rollover on 401 near Odessa

The Lennox and Addington County OPP has charged the driver of the bus involved in a rollover collision on the Highway 401 near Odessa in February.

On February 22, 2026, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a mulit-agency response including OPP, paramedics, and local fire services responded to reports of a commercial passenger bus that had entered the ditch and rolled over in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in the area of Old Wilton Road.

The bus was carrying 47 passengers along with the driver at the time of the incident. Individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including lacerations, broken bones and dislocations. Injured passengers were transported to two local hospitals for medical treatment.

Highway 401 eastbound was closed for approximately four hours in the area to allow for emergency response and transporting of the involved passengers off of the highway.

As a result of the investigation, Mandeep Mandeep, a 42-year-old from Brampton was charged with:

  • Careless driving
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm – ten counts
  • Unsafe move

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 1, 2026.
