On April 1st, 2026, 2 Air Movements Squadron celebrated its official 75th Anniversary as an organization.

Situated at Canadian Forces Base Trenton, 2 Air Movements Squadron is the Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Air Forces only Air Movements Squadron and has, and continues to, play a significant role in enabling CAF/RCAF operations both within Canada and abroad.

Established in 1951 to provide trained and experienced personnel to support Wing flying operations and airlift activity on deployed operations, 2 Air Mov Sqn processes an average of 36 million pounds of freight and 42,000 passengers annually. The Squadron also supports almost all major deployments and exercises by the CAF and maintains a deployable capability with four, 10-persons Mobile Air Movements Sections, which are prepared for any contingencies or wartime operations.

2 Air Mov Sqn remains the largest employer of Traffic Technicians and Air Movements Officers within the CAF, as well as the primary force generator for Traffic Technicians selected to become Loadmasters throughout the air mobility fleet.

On May 8th and 9th, 2026, 2 Air Mov Sqn will celebrate its 75th anniversary by hosting several events for former and currently serving members, including a Golf Tournament at Trillium Wood, Meet and Greet at Baker Island Community Centre, a tour of 2 Air Mov Sqn, and a Mess/Gala dinner at the National Air Force Museum of Canada.

The Squadron has had a storied past filled with proud traditions and amazing personnel who have contributed significantly to the defence of Canada and its interest. As it celebrates its 75th anniversary, much like the Squadron’s official motto “Nunquam non Paratus” (Never Unprepared), its personnel remain vigilant and ready to protect Canada and its people, for another 75 years and beyond.
