Young minds on display at the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair

The stage is set for the next generation of scientists and engineers as the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair (QRSTF) confirms its 2026 event will be held on Saturday, April 11. The fair, a cornerstone for STEM education in the region, will transform Saint Theresa Catholic School into a hub of innovation and discovery.

With the March 29 registration deadline fast approaching, organizers are making a final push for judges and confirming participating student finalists. Students can register independently or through their school.  “We are in the crucial final stages of preparation,” said QRSTF Co-chair Scott Berry. “We extend our immense gratitude to our dedicated sponsors and volunteers, whose support makes this celebration of youth science possible. We eagerly anticipate seeing the creative projects and a strong turnout from our community.”

The event is designed to engage both participants and the public. Community members are warmly welcomed to attend the public viewing session from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. This open-house style exhibit allows visitors to interact with young presenters, explore a diverse range of projects from environmental science to robotics, and witness firsthand the intellectual curiosity driving local students.

The day will culminate in the official awards ceremony at 3:30 PM, where top projects will be recognized for their ingenuity, scientific rigor, and presentation. This ceremony honors the hard work of the students and underscores the fair’s role in fostering critical skills for future academic and career pursuits. In addition to the many awards and prizes, up to five students will be selected to compete at the Canada-wide Science Fair (CWSF) (Youth Science Canada – YSC) in Edmonton in May.

The QRSTF committee emphasizes the fair’s importance as a platform for inspiring long-term interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By connecting students with expert judges and providing a public forum for their ideas, the event aims to build confidence and highlight the real-world impact of scientific inquiry.
