The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid multiple charges after an individual who was reportedly intoxicated drove to the Quinte West Detachment, regarding an incident that he had reported 30 minutes earlier.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a complaint made by an intoxicated individual, concerning a potential injury caused earlier that evening.  Whilst police were investigating the complaint, the individual drove themselves to the Quinte West Detachment where they committed further offences.

The individual was arrested with multiple charges being laid.

Lance HURLEY, age 39, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Indecent Act – public place
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Breach of Recognizance

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 7, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
