Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services is sending out a reminder to residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms inside their homes as they spring forward this weekend.
Daylight saving time begins this weekend, which means clocks will need to be set one hour ahead at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.
While updating your clocks, residents are reminded to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
A monthly check of your alarms helps ensure that they are working properly and will help keep your home and family safe, fire officials stated.
Clean your smoke alarms by vacuuming any dust with a soft brush attachment and Plan ahead to ensure everyone in your household knows what to do before, during and after an emergency.
