UPDATE: Road reopend after house fire in Barcovan area of Quinte West

UPDATE:

County Road 64 between Carter Road and Barcovan Beach Road in Quinte West has reopened following a structure fire in the area on Friday morning.

The blaze happened at a home at 1255 County Road 64 in Murray Ward at 9:30 am.

The road was reopened again to traffic around 2:40 p.m.

Still no word from the Fire department on a potential cause.

ORIGINAL STORY

Close to two dozen firefighters responded to a large house fire on Friday morning in the Barcovan area of Quinte West.

Fire Chief John Whalen says they received the call about a fully involved home at 1255 County Road 64 in Murray Ward at 9:30 am.

They called in tankers from four stations, with a total of 23 firefighters on scene.

All the residents made it out safely with no injuries reported but two dogs are still missing.

The house is considered a complete write off. No word yet on the cause.

Quinte West OPP, Hastings Quinte Paramedics and Hydro One all responded to the scene, as well.

County Road 64 was closed in the area between the Brighton Road Swing Bridge and Carter Road.
