Beyond the Headlines – Military Appreciation Night for Belleville Senators

By Paul Martin Mar 5, 2026 | 10:39 AM

I would like to take a moment to appreciate a special event being hosted by the Belleville Senators on Saturday as they give thanks to those who defend and serve.

The B-Sens are holding their annual Military Appreciation Night as they take on the Utica Comets.

On Saturday, the Senators will welcome 300 Canadian Armed Forces members from CFB Trenton and will pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of past and present members of the military through in-game recognition, ceremonial elements, and community-focused initiatives.

The first 2,500 fans will receive a rally towel, and the B-Sens will be supporting the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre through the sale of limited-edition, Belleville Sens military-inspired t-shirts and special game pucks.

As war rages in the middle east, the timing of this event couldn’t be more appropriate.

Everyone in the region greatly appreciates the hard-work and dedication of our women and men at CFB Trenton and we always know that they could be sent into the line of fire, but usually that’s a hypothetical danger.

Now, it’s very real. While we aren’t directly involving in the fighting yet, that could change, as Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that we can’t rule out sending in OUR military, since we will always defend out allies and Canadians (thousands of which are in the middle east today).

With that in mind, it’s great to see that we shall honour our veterans and also hundreds of people from CFB Trenton on Saturday. For what you have done in the past to defend Canada, what you do every day and what you may be called to do in the days to come, we humbly offer our admiration, our support and our thanks.

I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
