The Old Wooler Schoolhouse in Quinte West will be close to getting some upgrades.
At Wednesday’s council meeting, the horseshoe approved alterations proposed in the application for a Heritage Permit for the property on County Rd. 5.
Council approved the recommendation as written to request permission to complete exterior restoration work, and construct a two-storey addition at the rear of the building.
The request also asked that the current property owner and/or insurer to work with members of the Heritage Advisory Committee to salvage certain ornamental structures to be donated to the Trent Port Historical Society for preservation and display.
The schoolhouse was built in 1915 and was designated a heritage site in 2024.
