By Paul Martin Feb 20, 2026 | 11:15 AM

UPDATE (11 a.m.): Power has been restored to that area in the 11 o’clock hour.

ORIGINAL STORY

The lights went out just as the morning drive was ending on the south side of Belleville on Friday morning.

Elexicon has reported that a power outage affecting 500-5,000 customers began in the south-central area of Belleville around 8:50 am.

The area includes the entire downtown area and going past the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse South to Jane Forrester Park

Callers to our newsroom report that traffic lights are also out in the downtown core all along Front Street up to College and on Dundas east and west of the downtown core, as well.

There is no word yet on the cause of the outage or an estimated time of restoration.
