UPDATE: Pedestrian pronounced deceased after being struck by train in east-end Belleville

By Paul Martin Feb 23, 2026 | 11:03 AM

A pedestrian was struck by a train in the east end of Belleville on Monday morning.

Delays started building after a train stopped on the tracks on Dundas Street East by Haig Road around 7:50 am.

Belleville Police have confirmed that a pedestrian was struck by a train in the city earlier this morning.

They also confirmed around 10:30 am that the pedestrian was pronounced deceased. No other details are provided.

As a result of the incident, the train was blocking several railway crossings, affecting the area from Haig Road to South Front Street.

Dundas Street East reopened around 11 am, with others still closed. They hope to have all crossings open and the train cleared by noon.
