LTC appoints new board leaders

By Brock Ormond Feb 13, 2026 | 3:41 PM
Lower Trent Conservation has appointed new leaders for its board of directors.
Sherri Hamilton of Cramahe has been named as Chair, and Jeff Wheeldon of Brighton will take the Vice-Chair mantle.
Both Hamilton and Wheeldon joined the Lower Trent Conservation Board in 2023 and have quickly become valued voices for the work the organization does.
Their strong advocacy, decision-making, and support for staff and programs has made an impact on the organization, as well as across the watershed.
The Chair was selected through a Board election process, while the Vice-Chair was acclaimed reflecting the trust and respect their fellow Board members have in their abilities.
LTC officials thanked outgoing Chair, Gene Brahaney, who has served on the Board since 2019 and as Chair for the past two.
They stated Brahaney’s leadership has been marked by his deep respect for Conservation Authorities, staff, and the important environmental work that LTC does, as well as his dedication and efforts to strengthen the organization for the future.
The Lower Trent Conservation Authority Board play a critical role in guiding and overseeing the work of their organizations.

Board members are typically appointed by member municipalities and are responsible for setting the strategic direction and priorities of the organization, approving budgets and major policies, ensuring that programs align with provincial legislation and local community needs, and providing strong governance and accountability for the responsible use of public resources.
