Members of the Northumberland OPP have laid impaired driving charges in Hamilton Township after a vehicle was found stuck in a snowbank.
On Monday February 2, 2026, at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers received a call regarding a vehicle that was stuck in a snowbank at a location on Division Street. Officer arrived on scene and observed a black four-door sedan with its front wheel lodged in the snowbank.
A female was found slouched over in the driver’s seat.
Officers woke the driver and observed a strong odour of alcohol.
The driver was then taken into custody and transported to a nearby OPP detachment where investigative testing was conducted which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, Miranda Benoit, 44, of Colborne Ont. was charged with impaired operation and driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of 80-plus.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on February 25.
