A 38-year-old man faces a long list of charges following an incident on Thursday.
At approximately 9:00pm, Belleville Police responded to an apartment complex in the city’s west end following a report of an unwanted person.
It was reported that an unknown male was attempting to gain entry to the building despite not being a tenant.
When another man attempted to prevent the suspect from entering through the door, the suspect reportedly tried to force his way inside and spat on the male.
After identifying the suspect through video surveillance, officers located them and made an arrest.
During the arrest, officers found the male to be in possession of counterfeit money, brass knuckles, an unknown vehicle key fob, and bank cards not bearing his name.
A Belleville man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
· Assault
· Possessing counterfeit money
· Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
· Fail to comply with a probation order X2
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X2
In relation to unrelated incidents, the male was additionally charged with:
· Theft under 5000 X2
· Fail to comply with a probation order X4
He was held for a bail hearing.
