By Hailey MacDonald Jan 2, 2026 | 12:45 PM

Quinte Health is pleased to share the joyful news of the first baby born across their hospitals in 2026 – a special milestone that marks both a new year and a new beginning for one local family.

Rosie-Lynne Boustead was born on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 7:11 a.m. on the Maternal Child Unit, located on the 7th floor of Belleville General Hospital (BGH), weighing 5lbs 13oz. Proud parents Nicole and Karl Boustead, of Belleville, welcomed their little one with the support of the Maternal Child care team.

The arrival of the year’s first baby is always a meaningful moment for Quinte Health’s teams – a reminder of the trust families place in them during some of life’s most important moments.

“This is a wonderful way to begin the new year,” said Lina Rinaldi, Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive.

“Welcoming the first baby of 2026 reflects the compassion, skill, and teamwork our staff bring to every birth, every day.”

From the very first moments of life, Quinte Health is honoured to support families across our communities. As 2026 begins, this beautiful arrival reminds Quinte Health why the work they do matters so deeply – creating healthier communites, together.
