Mischief charge laid in Belleville’s east end

By Paul Martin Jan 9, 2026 | 10:47 AM

A Belleville man has been arrested following a disturbance in the east end of the city.

On January 8th at 7:10pm, Belleville Police responded to an apartment complex in the city’s east end.

It was reported that a male resident had been banging on another resident’s door with a crowbar. The crowbar was seized prior to police arrival.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that the male had been banging on a female resident’s door after becoming upset about noise, causing damage to the door.

As a result, Van Johnston, 65-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5000.

He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in February.
