Hawks doubled by Huskies

By Brock Ormond Jan 16, 2026 | 11:12 PM

The Trenton Golden Hawks’ bid for a 10th straight victory ended at the hands of the Haliburton County Huskies on Friday night, 4-2.

Haliburton silenced the usually noisy Hawks faithful at ‘The Hangar’ with the game’s opening tally through the former Hawk Nate Taylor with more than a minute to spare in the first.

The Huskies clawed their way forward to a 2-0 lead in the second on a Ryan Gosse tally at the 13:11 mark.

The Hawks looked to the trusted point collector to get on the board, with Taeo Artichuk burying his league and team-leading 29th goal of the season from Beckett Ewart at 1:29.

The gritty Huskies never broke down though and found a way to wrestle the two-goal lead back on a Chris Brydges powerplay strike more than nine minutes into the period.

Nic Ferrante upped that advantage to three in the waning minutes and sent the Huskies cruising to victory.

Jamie Darlison did get one back from Artichuk and Andrew Wycisk on the powerplay to make it 4-2, but that’s as close as the home side would get.

Hayden Jeffery stopped 22 in just the Hawks eighth regulation loss of the 2025-26 season.

Trenton takes a break along with the rest of the OJHL for the All-Star Game this weekend before playing the Aurora Tigers at 1 p.m. next Tuesday.
