The snow is expected to be so bad on Monday that schools in one part of the Quinte Region are closed on Monday.
All Prince Edward County schools will be closed to students and staff today, January 19, 2026, due to the forecast for blizzard conditions and dangerous travel. Students and staff should not go to school.
The decision to close schools was made in consultation with the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board, the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services and detailed weather forecasting information.
Schools in other parts of the Quinte Region are open on Monday, though school buses have been cancelled in all areas except North Hastings, North Lennox and Addington and North and Central Frontenac.
