Pegasus Cheer Athletics fought through the bitter cold and snow to rise atop the podium at a competition in Barrie, Ont. this past weekend.
The Belleville-based cheerleading competed at the Extreme Chill Cheer Challenge and came away with two gold medals, a silver and a bronze.
Five teams and three individual athletes competed overall, earning the following placements:

Capricorn (U12 All Star Elite Level 2 Non-Tumble, ages 8 to 12) – First Place

Indy Grace (Open Cheer Abilities, ages 16+) – First Place

Indy Olivia B (U16 Level 3, ages 12 to 16) – Second Place

Indy Aaralynn (U12 Level 2, ages 8 to 12) – Third Place

Virgo (U16 All Star Prep Level 1, ages 12 to 16) – Sixth Place

Aries (U16 Novice Level 1, ages 12 to 16) – Excellent Performance

Leo (U8 All Star Prep Level 1, ages 5 to 8) – Excellent Performance

Pisces (U12 Novice Level 1, ages 8 to 12) – Outstanding Performance
Held at the Sadlon Arena in Barrie, Ontario, Extreme Chill Cheer Challenge marked the first competition of the season for Virgo, Pisces, Aries, Leo, Indy Grace, and Indy Aaralynn.
Capricorn was also excited to leave the competition with first place and has an undefeated season so far.
The three individual athletes also achieved the distinction of ‘hitting zero’, meaning they completed their routine with no deductions or legalities, a testament to the athletes working hard to accomplish their goals.
“This was our first cheerleading competition, and while we didn’t know what to expect, the pride on the kids’ faces said it all.” stated Pam Taylor, parent of a Pisces athlete.
