Tyendinaga Mohawk Council election set for this weekend

By Paul Martin Dec 5, 2025 | 12:20 PM

Residents of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory get set to cast their votes in the Mohawk Council election this weekend.

Two candidates for Chief, R. Donald Maracle and Andrew Miracle are set to square off, and 16 candidates are vying for six seats on council in the election, which takes place Saturday.

Maracle is looking to retain the Chief role once again after having been the incumbent for 32 years.

The election will be held at the Quinte Mohawk School from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Voters can come to the school between those hours or vote by mail-in ballot if they cannot make it on the election day.

The full list of candidates can be found at this link.

Results are expected this weekend and on Monday.
