An offensive explosion made for a nice early Christmas gift for Trenton Golden Hawks fans on Friday night.
The Hawks, celebrating the 2024-25 Buckland Cup Championship Team with a ring ceremony pre-game, took the undermanned Cobourg Cougars down by a 13-1 thrashing.
The Hawks went up 4-0 after one period, 6-1 after 40 minutes and then really drove home the victory with seven tallies in the third.
All but three Golden Hawks recorded points, with Taeo Artichuk bumping his league-leading point total to 72 with five to lead the charge.
Other multi-point highlights came from Josh Brady, Beckett Ewart (four each), Jack Ziliotto, Candon O’Neill, Joey Brehmer and Isaiah Shantz (three each) and Lucas Digiantommaso, Duncan Schneider, Jamie Darlison and Thomas Kuipers with two.
Owen Outwater added a single goal, Mason Musclow notched his first OJHL marker and Wyatt Gregory counted for the first time as a Hawk.
The Hawks outshot Cobourg 54-11, with Dylan Lee-Stack getting the win.
Trenton finishes out 2025 with a road game in Niagara Falls at 6 p.m. Sunday.
