Granquinte helps advocate for end to gender-based violence

By Brock Ormond Dec 5, 2025 | 1:34 PM

The local chapter of the Grandmothers Advocacy Network is once again advocating for an end to gender-based violence with an annual campaign.

Saturday, December 6 marks 36 years since the Ecole Polytechnique tragedy, where 14 women were killed in a shooting at the Montreal engineering school in 1989.

Coming out of that was the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women recognizing the lives lost.

It also was the fuel behind the Granquinte Orange the World campaign, running from Nov. 25-Dec. 10, and it’s 16 Days of Activism to eliminate gender-based violence against women and girls.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize resources to bring an end to this fundamental human rights violation.
