Four residents charged in QW drug investigation

Four people are facing charges after a seizure of drugs and other items in Quinte West.

An investigation led by the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit that began in October eventually led to search warrants and arrests on Tuesday.

From those search warrants on Catherine Street and Telephone Road, arrests of four Quinte West residents were made and nearly 90 grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of oxycodone were seized.

They also seized a prohibited firearm and ammunition, as well as items associated with drug trafficking, and $250 in cash.

Joseph Cassibo, 30, Ashley Austin, 27, Patricia Arnold, 39, and Steven Auger, 39, were all charged.

Their list of charges is as follows

Cassibo

Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

This accused was remanded in custody, and a bail hearing is scheduled to continue before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 9.

Austin

Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
Failure to comply with a release order

Arnold

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

Auger

Traffick in a Schedule 1 substance
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

These three accused were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 5, 2026.
