Jamie Darlison’s four goal performance highlighted an offensive affair on Saturday night for the Trenton Golden Hawks in an 8-5 victory over the Tigers in Aurora.
The Hawks, having been off since Tuesday, came out of the gate outshooting Aurora 11-6 in the first frame, but trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes on the strength of Quinlan Clair and Lucas Marshall tallies.
The team came out flying again in the second stanza, but this time managed to find results, burying three quick tallies.
Beckett Ewart struck to get Trenton back into the game 49 seconds into the second, potting his 11th of the year from Thomas Kuipers, before an equalizer off the stick of Jack Ziliotto and a go-ahead tally courtesy of Andrew Wycisk.
However, the Tigers wouldn’t go away, as Jamie Buscarini knotted the score halfway through the frame and Javian Nei put Aurora back ahead again at the 11:47 mark.
The same story unfolded to start the third as it did in the second, with Trenton flying out off the jump, led by Darlison, who popped home a marker even earlier, just 37 seconds into the stanza.
After Nei put Aurora back up by one, the Whitby native came up huge again for the Hawks, tying the game once more at 7:10, before putting his team ahead at 11:53.
Ziliotto added his second of the game, before Darlison capped off his outstanding night with an empty-netter.
Taeo Artichuk was an assist machine in the contest, dishing out a season-high six helpers, while Darlison added a pair of assists for a six-point night of his own.
Dylan Lee-Stack made 16 saves as Trenton outshot Aurora 40-21.
This is the Hawks only game of the weekend, as they will be off until Tuesday when they visit the St. Michael’s Buzzers at 7 p.m.
