A domestic assault incident in Belleville has led to the arrest of a city man on Sunday.

Belleville Police say a man had assaulted a woman at an east end residence a few days prior and refused to leave the residence before officers came to investigate on Sunday.

Officers also learned that the male was bound by conditions to not communicate with the female.

As a result of investigation, a 40-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He was held for a bail hearing.
