UPDATE – Brighton chooses new logo for Municipality

By Hailey MacDonald Nov 4, 2025 | 7:00 AM

UPDATE on Tuesday morning – Brighton has chosen the image that will help promote the municipality to the public.

Monday night, Council voted to select Option 2 – a new logo which prominently features a lighthouse and a map of the municipality itself in the background.

They chose it over Option 1 – which featured an apple and also an image of the Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse.

ORIGINAL STORY FROM MONDAY – Brighton will decide on a new look for the future at Monday’s Council meeting.

Staff will present a report on two possible choices for a new logo for the municipality, to be reflected on correspondence and most branded materials.

One choice includes an apple with a lighthouse inside it and the other has a lighthouse with a background that is shaped like the municipality itself.

Both designs include the Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse, seen as “a symbol of both adventure and homecoming.”

The report is included below.

Recommendation(s): That Council review the two final municipal logo concepts and select one as the Municipality of Brighton’s official logo, directing staff to proceed with implementation and development of final brand materials.

Background/Purpose: The purpose of getting a new logo and rebranding for the Municipality of Brighton is to modernize the municipality’s visual identity and corporate brand while reflecting its past, present, and bright future. Over the past several months, staff and the Municipality’s branding consultant (the blondes) have worked collaboratively to develop updated logo concepts that reflect Brighton’s identity, values, and vision. Following community engagement, resident/visitor feedback, and design refinements, two final logo concepts have been developed for Council’s consideration.

Analysis/Comments: Full analysis and rational is listed in the attached slide deck analyzing the the two concepts. Legal/Legislative: All legal and legislative requirements have been met to do date and staff will ensure to continue to comply moving forward as the new visual identity moves closer to launch.

Financial Implications: This project is funded through the 2025 operating budget.
